Photographer Lalage Snow takes pictures of soldiers’ faces before, during and after the war in Afghanistan.
god I will always reblog this this is so powerful
i really love this because in the first picture he is just an innocent young man. in the middle, you can see the sadness in his eyes about either others being killed before him or him killing others to protect our country. in the last picture, you dont see that same sadness in his eyes anymore as the one that was in the middle. theres still sadness there but its replaced by growth and wisdom. he learned so much from the war, whether that is good or bad, i do not know. but hey, this is what i just think about the picture.
Meh, doesn’t he seem more vivid during the war? I would love to know whether this is a general thing

Choose life.
Choose a job.
Choose a career.
Choose a family.
Choose a fucking big television,
Choose washing machines,
cars,
compact disc players,
and electrical tin openers.
Choose good health,
low cholesterol and dental insurance.
Choose fixed- interest mortgage repayments.
Choose a starter home.
Choose your friends.
Choose leisure wear and matching luggage.
Choose a three piece suite on hire purchase in a range of fucking fabrics.
Choose DIY and wondering who you are on a Sunday morning.
Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing sprit- crushing game shows,
stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth.
Choose rotting away at the end of it all,
pishing you last in a miserable home,
nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish,
fucked-up brats you have spawned to replace yourself.
Choose your future.
Choose life… But why would I want to do a thing like that?
Whenever I am on Princes Street I like to pretend I’m in Trainspotting.

“A lot of people just look and see skin color. I’ve actually had people ask me was I Black or was I White first. A White gentleman came up to me and said ‘I thought you might be White, but then I saw your lips.’ One girl said to me ‘I’ve been wanting to ask you this question, but I didn’t feel comfortable asking you because I thought that you might be offended, but are you Black or are you White?’ And I was just like, ‘Well, I’m always Black.’ When we were done with the meat of the conversation, she laughed and said something about my hair and my butt gave it away. People definitely let you know that they view being Black as being very literal – the amount of pigment you have. ‘Your skin is White, therefore you’re White. Or are you?’
